Getting close to the final stretch !

Save the date ! The 2018/2019 Luxembourg edition of the Eurosystem's "Generation €uro Students' Award" school competition has seen its penultimate round come to an end and is very close to its conclusion, which will take place on 4 April.

This year, 25 teams participated, from Aline Mayrisch and Hubert Clément high schools, as well as from Athénée, Sportlycée and Lycée technique de Lallange.

An English-speaking edition was organised in parallel, for the first time since the creation of the competition, with the participation of 6 teams from St George's International School and the International School of Luxembourg, making a total of 31 teams.

The participants, aged 16 to 19, were selected following two first tests accessible to any high school student with an economic appeal and a keen competitive spirit. The qualified teams were chosen for their knowledge of euro area monetary policy, the relevance of their ideas and the consistency of their reasoning.

The first test, an online Eurosystem quiz with 30 questions, selected the 12 best teams, with a score of 97% or higher.

The second was to take a monetary policy decision explained and justified by a coherent written record. The results were published at the end of January, declaring the Dynasty, The Lion Kings (Lycée Hubert Clément) and One Direction (Athénée de Luxembourg) teams finalists.

The final test will take place at the Banque centrale du Luxembourg, and will consist of a presentation of their monetary policy decision to a jury, followed by a series of questions about it.

The winning team will be invited to an awards ceremony at the European Central Bank (ECB) headquarters in Frankfurt in the presence of Mario Draghi, President of the institution. In addition, the team will be able to attend conferences and debates with ECB experts.
